The revitalised Road Repair Subcommittee, comprising Robert Williams (Chairman), Steve Mackenzie and Daniel Leech-Wilkinson has been getting down to business. Residents in Ethelburt Avenue should find a letter from them, accompanying the Newsletter. This sets out various options and invites your views.
Recently, using a metal detector, some digging was done to locate the drains. As well as drains beside the verge on the south side, there are also drains on the north side. These are now well out in the roadway. This is because, as you will see from the photo, there used to be a verge and footway on the north side. As the verge was not protected by a row of trees it was worn away and has now disappeared. It would be a danger, particularly to cyclists to expose the drain gratings without restoring the verge. This is being considered.
