At the meeting of the North Neighbourhoods Partnership Health Working Group held in September, discussion took place on the response to the health questionnaire sent out within the area. The 75 responses were mainly from the senior citizen age-group. The North Neighbourhoods have a higher than average number of single pensioner households, and their responses raised concerns about the needs of this age group. There are many facilities available for the elderly, but due to lack of knowledge, many of the elderly feel isolated in their own homes. This could also be due to financial and mobility problems. We decided to try to get a slot in the magazine City View which has an extensive circulation. For this slot, we would draw up a list of activities available to the 50+ age-group to be known as SIS (Seniors Information Service).
