About 40 people attended a meeting at St George’s School on 30th November, although at least a third were Council officials and other non-residents.
Items on the agenda included cleaning up the estate, repair of fencing, policing of the estate and the local bus service. Mr Geoff Cooper from First Bus said they were planning to reroute the number 6 along Bassett Green Road, thus providing a more frequent service to the City Centre and a bus to Shirley and the General Hospital.
The proposed use of the old scout hut as a youth and community centre has many hurdles to go through and would be unpopular with neighbours.
Angela Gilbert suggested to the Police Community Support Officers that they should be present when the boys come out of school. (She reports they are now seen more often at this time).
