On 31st August there was a massive deterioration in our bus services. Among other things, the number 6 was withdrawn and the 7 now only goes one way around a loop through the Flower Roads and down Bassett Green Road. It then follows the same route as the number 2, so we have no direct service down Bevois Valley past the Royal South Hants Hospital. To get to the General Hospital, we can catch the U6H outside MacDonald’s. Unfortunately the U6H service starts later than the 6 did and not early enough, if you work a shift starting at 7am.
“If you don’t use it, you lose it” for clearly First Bus aren’t going to run services that are not commercially viable. If you have particular problems with the bus services, tell Simon Bell, Principal Transport Planner, Southampton City Council. But don’t hold your breath.
