We were concerned to see that solar panels had been installed on a side roof-slope in this Conservation Area, as permission had not been sought from Woodhill Properties Ltd. Whatever the need for planning permission from the City Council, entirely separate permission is required for alterations under the restrictive covenants.
In 2011, Woodhill Properties sought the views of the Association on solar panels, so this item was placed on the agenda for the AGM. The overwhelming view of the meeting was that “Solar panels on roofs are OK provided they are not too visible from a road”. You should therefore expect that Woodhill Properties will make their decision in accordance with this principle.
