Turning front gardens into car parks to accommodate the two or three car family harms the appearance of the Conservation Area. This is not just a local problem. At the Chelsea Flower Show, the RHS launched a new report “Greening Grey Britain”. It charts the alarming increase in paved-over front gardens and is seeking to reverse this trend. It has helpful advice to show how even the smallest space can be green and inviting, while providing room for a car or two. Front gardens don’t have to be shingle deserts; they can be made to bloom.
