The £4 annual subscriptions have already been collected in some parts of the Conservation Area, but in others, the street rep has yet to call. In Ethelburt Avenue, £30 will also be collected for the Repair and Maintenance Fund. This is the same for each house as a contribution for the benefit of the community as a whole. It is not based on the amount of use a household makes of the roadway. If it were, we should no doubt be confronted with numerous ingenious arguments as to why someone’s contribution should be less than other people’s.
