I recently fell for a scam, I’m sorry to tell you. I received an email from someone well known to me. She had a cold, lost her voice and needed a favour and had I a moment to discuss this over email? Naturally I replied “What can I do for you?”. She was away on a short trip and wanted to buy a present for her niece which was to be an email Apple gift card available from Amazon. Would I make the purchase for her? I obliged, but was saved from losing £100 because, 3 minutes after placing my order, Amazon said they were unable to process it. A belated phone call found her at home, with no cold or loss of voice!
How can I avoid this?
