As part of our efforts to promote sustainable energy, we are reviewing the current policy on the installation of solar panels on rooftops within our conservation area. The Company’s Policy on Alterations currently states:
‘The Company’s policy is to not allow solar panels or energy generation devices to be attached to anywhere on the dwellinghouse; however, such devices, of an appropriate size, may be considered for erection in the rear garden or on an out-building if not visible from the roadway.’
A review of the existing policy would be timely, not least in view of soaring energy prices and the need to reduce carbon emissions. Equally, however, we recognize the importance of preserving the character of the Estate. Do you think solar panels can be integrated sensitively? What are your concerns or suggestions?
