Residents might be interested in a book published by the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership. It’s called Station Walks and has 38 walks of various distances and difficulties, starting and finishing at railway stations in the local area, including several from Swaythling. The idea is to encourage sustainable travel by rail to a new destination from where a circular or linear walk can take you back to your station or on to another one. At the same time, the walks encourage people to find out about local areas, which may not have been over-explored up to now. It costs £5 and for details email info@threeriversrail.com or I can get copies, if people contact me on 8055 6817.
