At least 39 residents attended the 2022 HCERA AGM, the Association’s 32nd, at the Hardmoor Early Years Centre. This year, reports were prepared in advance and not read out during the meeting. This should allow more time for discussion.
The chairman’s report was disposed of very quickly, but a potential disaster for HCERA had to be added, namely, the treasurer would not be continuing. In her absence due to a heavy cold, the accounts were approved without comment.
In presenting the report of the Road Improvement Group, Dan Hopgood explained that due to the very dry weather, less had been spent this year on buying materials. In answer to a question, he said the current policy was to repair potholes in the tarmac at the ends of the road, rather than relaying it.
Following the resignation of Andy Fisher due to personal commitments, the report of the Trees Committee was presented by John Dixon who had organised a tree survey (see Summer Newsletter). Peter Coxon added details of the tree work done the previous day in Field Close. This prompted a discussion on how expensive tree work was to be paid for, perhaps by a hefty increase in the Association’s subscription. However a decision on this was ruled out of order as it was not on the agenda.
We had a volunteer to become the new treasurer, Jackie Donnina. John Green brought us up to date with the Company. There was just one item of any other business, how to become a member of the Company? This has now been remedied with an item on the website. The AGM finished in plenty of time for a slice of loaf cake.
