On this walk we go through Riverside Park and the Marlhill Copse .
Go down Portswood Road and turn left at the traffic lights into Woodmill Lane. After crossing Woodmill Bridge, turn left on to the path beside the River Itchen. We will not follow this path through Riverside Park all the way to Mans Bridge. Instead, at some point after reaching the end of the Pitch and Putt course, we cross the grass and walk beside the tree line on the eastern side of the park. When we reach the trees in front of us, we follow the track into Marlhill Copse. The track crosses a small culvert and then goes along the floor of the valley. Here we may expect to see deer and squirrels. The track is quite distinct at first, but as it becomes less clear we keep going in the same direction. Eventually the track turns to the left and emerges on Manbridge Road about 100 yards east of the White Swan. We return along Manbridge Road, turn left at the Wide Lane roundabout and go under the railway arch.
